A Simple Internet Business Model
Here’s a simple Internet business model (and a formula for success) that I urge you to seriously consider. This post came about because I noticed that Alok Jain had written in his blog that he had recently re-read Robert Kiyosaki’s "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and was going to change his business model to accommodate some of the concepts.
Namely, he talked about the residual income concept, and I decided to comment on his blog post. My comment was that there is a very simple way to do business on the Internet that falls right in line with Kiyosaki’s ideas with respect to building residual income. Here it is:
Before you can embrace these principles, you have to stop chasing the latest product launches and all the "quick fix" make cash now junk that so many people are promoting all the time. Yes, there is some value in some of the products being promoted. But, most of it is just a distraction and a hindrance to your success.
So, without further delay, here it is: focus on creating X number of pages of content that create an income of X amount per day each.
Tony Robbins tells us that in order to be successful, you need a simple, workable approach to whatever you do. Part of that approach is to decide on what your strategy is, and then take those actions that support that strategy. The beauty of this plan is that it simplifies everything down to a strategy that is easily worked. So many people get lost because they’re just not sure if they’re doing the right things. This plan takes care of that.
It’s also industry neutral and doable by all. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the psychology business, the pet business, or the blogging business, you can create content around your subject. It’s also totally scalable. If your target is $1 per day each, and you create 1,000 pages, then that is $1,000 per day in income. If your target is 50 cents, then that is $500 per day in income. You can then adjust this formula to meet any market’s limitations.
Here’s how to implement this formula:
1. Choose an initial income goal and date. Let’s say you choose $20 per day by a certain date.
2. Begin creating content and site promotion and generate traffic.
3. Add monetization to those pages and test for income levels.
4. Let’s say you find that your pages average $.20 per day. So, now you know you need 100 pages to create $20 per day in income. Evaluate your goal for time and see if it needs to be adjusted. Should you purchase your content or outsource tasks? You know how much you’re going to earn, so now you know whether or not it’s worth it to spend.
5. Work toward creating those 100 pages and building traffic. As you do, experiment with improving conversions, different monetization models, and so on to see if you can improve efficiency.
6. If after your tweaking you find it still takes 100 pages, then either finish out those 100 pages, or look for a more lucrative market to begin working on.
7. Once you hit your goal of $20 per day, set a new goal and a completion date. Say, $80 per day.
8. Evaluate and decide if it’s best to keep pursuing the market(s) you’re in, or should you expand and create a different market in order to reach your next goal.
9. Rinse/repeat. Just keep repeating the same actions over and over until you build to an income level that makes you happy. Then, you can choose to do whatever you like. Pursue other interests, sell your business, play golf, whatever.
This is truly a great business model since it works for any market, doesn’t rely on tricks, won’t stop working for you tomorrow, and it’s totally scalable and totally doable.
This truly is a simple internet business model, but it’s also elegant and flexible. If you want to earn $500 per day, you can. If you want to ramp that up to $1,000, just repeat the process. Let’s say your market doesn’t support 50 cents per day but does support 25 cents? Great! Then create 2,000 pages and you’ll still make $500 per day. That’s it. No magic, no "secrets" and no chasing somebody else’s dream or lining someone else’s pocket with money.
And, you can use whatever vehicle "does it" for you. The very best content building system I know of is SBI! , but you can use any tool you like. You can use Squidoo lenses or Hubpages (some people claim they earn lots of money with Squidoo). You can create a blog, or have your own website on your own domain. You can use WordPress or Blogger or whatever you like. You can use a combination of all of these if it suits you. Simple, workable, scalable, flexible and not subject to "get rich quick disease."
