I’ve been increasing image traffic to one of my sites in a dramatic way, largely by using an LOL builder and then simply linking to those images, adding the right alt tags and related keywords and links, and bingo, lots of traffic. The LOL builder I’ve been using, primarily, is icanhascheezburger.

Even though these images are not hosted on my site, my site comes up very well in Google image search. Have a look at my stats for April 2008 and notice the image search numbers…

As you can see, Google sent me over 14,000 page views just from image search alone for the month of April. Pretty cool, especially since I don’t have to host the images, and in most cases, I didn’t even take the pictures or create the captions. I just grabbed ones I liked from the existing library.

I recently encouraged my visitors to create their own LOLs and place the code on my site using icanhascheezburger. So far, the experiment is going slower than slow. I haven’t promoted it at all, so that may be part of the reason, but I wondered if maybe it was too complicated for people to use. Not that my visitors can’t use it, but just that they won’t because it’s a bit too much work.

Enter primps.com. I’ve found a new LOL builder that might be a bit easier to use. You don’t have to log in, give up your email address (or any personal info), and the tools are pretty easy to use. It also has a number of features you don’t find on LOL builders including some effects. There are also preloaded images you can use, and you can hot link right to the image.

Here’s one I just created (my first) with primps.com…

While I haven’t yet presented this idea to my visitors, it seems like perhaps it would be easier for them to use. If you’re not using images to generate traffic, I highly suggest you do. Primps.com may be a good tool for your site.
